Our Values
OUR CHRISTIAN VALUES: FAITH, HOPE, LOVE
At Parish, our Christian Vision and therefore our community is based on 3 core Christian Values: Faith, Hope and Love. These values foster a positive learning environment, help us make decisions about how we live together and improve our social, moral, spiritual and cultural skills. They are a guide to how we live our lives, influencing our attitudes and actions, encouraging us all to take responsibility for our own learning and behaviour. Sometimes when we are so busy in life we forget the values that are important. Here at Parish we focus on one core value a term to help us understand what living that value actually means and to help us to truly learn and grow together woth Jesus. We have selected 4 'sub-values' within each of the 3 core termly values. These are reflected upon over a 2 year cycle.
To deepen their understanding of our core values, we provide a structure for children to be actively involved in our worships, to evaluate and develop worship and to ultimately become leaders of collective worship themselves.
When someone in our school demonstrates that they are living out our core vales, they have the opportunity to be selected as the termly 'Living Values' winner and these children come and have a hot chocolate and a catch up with Mrs Young.
Our school uses a variety of resources as a basis for our Collective Worship. Resources including ‘ Values for Life’, resources provided and inspired by Blackburn Diocese and Imaginor 'Roots and Fruits’ to name a few. Our core values are shared with children on a regular basis in a multitude of creative ways, and are also reinforced through our teaching. Most of these Values can be said to be ‘human values’ and inclusive for people with different or diverse faiths, and also for those with no faith. As a Church of England school, however, we have rooted these Values in the Bible. We have established values that are particularly important to members of our school family.
