Pupil Premium – What is it?
Pupil Premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.
At Parish CE Primary School, our primary aim is to ensure that all children are able to access all aspects of the school’s provision in order to achieve the highest standards of achievement and make the greatest rates of progress possible in relation to their individual starting points.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy
Our pupil premium strategy is founded on the following principles and practices:
- We use a tiered approach to Pupil Premium spending as it helps us to balance approaches to improving teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies.
- We focus on a small number of priorities each year in areas that are likely to make the biggest difference, with a focus on effective implementation.
- The approaches we choose are selected on the basis of strong external evidence and reflect the ‘menu of approaches’ as identified by the Department for Education their ‘Using pupil premium: guidance for school leaders’ guidance.
- We consider a broad array of external evidence to inform our decision making, and this helps to enhance the expert knowledge we have of the pupils in our care.
- Our pupil premium strategy is embedded within a broader strategic implementation cycle. What really matters is how we embed these principles into the day-to-day life of our school. We aim to foster a climate of tackling disadvantage.

- our intended outcomes – what we are aiming for by the end of our current strategy plan, and how we will measure whether they have been achieved
