International Schools Award

At Parish, we work hard to maintain our links with other schools, both locally and internationally. We have been awarded the ‘International Schools Award’ for our outstanding development of the international dimension in the curriculum for the last 6 consecutive years. We teach our pupils about life in other countries and develop them as global citizens. In April 2015, the British Council emailed to say that our international work was, 'outstanding', 'impressive' and a 'credit to the school'. Wow!

Our Partner School in China
We have a strong link with our partner school, Jinshan Road Primary School, in China. Mrs Ryder and Mr Thomas have visited the school and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We have also had visits from the staff at Jinshan Road Primary school. Miss Chen and Nina were extremely impressed with the welcome they received from the children at Parish. We also love to celebrate Chinese New Year. Both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children took part in a Fan Dance workshop which enabled them to explore Chinese culture.

European Day of Languages
In September 2014 we celebrated ‘European day of languages’ in order to launch our new French curriculum. The children came into school in the colours of the French flag and we held a French breakfast across the school, where the children sampled traditional French breakfast foods. Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children receive French lessons each week from Madame Wallbank.

Links with Austria
At Parish, we also have close links with Austria. Some staff have even been lucky enough to visit Innsbruck. Each class at Parish has a link class in Austria and we often write letters to each other. We also hold regular video conferences to enable the children to communicate in both English and German.
