Why can't a meerkat live in the North Pole?

As part of our Year 1 Learning Challenge Curriculum,  we are investigating the question: 'Why can't a meerkat live in the North Pole?'

To begin our new topic we read 'Meerkat Mail' by Emily Gravett. This is a story about a meerkat called Sunny who travels around the world sending postcards home to his family. The children love this book!

Our role-play area is a Desert/North Pole at the moment and the children can find out about hot and cold places.
