Year 6 Leavers' Service at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral

Start: 16th Jun 2015 12:00pm

Duration: Return to school by approx 3.30pm

The annual visit to the Anglican Cathedral for Year 6 pupils will take place on Tuesday 16th June. All Y6 pupils will be taken to the Cathedral for the Service, the children will leave school at 12 pm to arrive at the Cathedral in time to be seated and ready for worship at 1.30pm.

As we will be leaving at 12pm, we shall have an early lunch in class at around 11.30am. With this in mind the children may want to bring a packed lunch on this day. If your child receives a school lunch then a packed lunch will be ordered for them.

This visit is a wonderful occasion when all the Y6 children in the Diocese are able to join together in this impressive cathedral before going on to High School.

This year the service is aiming to raise the profile of the work of Christian Aid in Ethiopia. The charity are highlighting the difference owning a cow can make to a community’s life and with that in mind they are challenging schools in the Diocese to raise as much money as possible towards this cause so that they can ‘cow-culate’ the total number of cows which can be bought (one cow costs £150). I have attached a brown envelope to this letter so that if you wish to raise/donate money towards this then it can be placed in here (please put name and ‘leavers service’ on the envelope and return by 12th June)

The service will last approximately 45minutes to one hour and we usually try to have photographs taken with the Bishop. Parents are welcome to attend but will need to make their own arrangements in terms of travel and follow directions at the cathedral in terms of seating.

I would expect the children to arrive back at school no later than 3.30p.m. (this will mean that children who usually catch the school bus will need to make alternative arrangements)

A member of staff will ring school as the coach departs from the Cathedral to confirm the estimated time of arrival back at school.
