Save the Children Den Day

Class: Reception Year: 2015 - 2016

We have enjoyed a great day raising awareness about the work that Save The Children engage in throughout the world.  Children have researched natural disasters and the impact that these can have upon communities.  They investigated the earthquake in Nepal and what this meant for children who lived in these areas. Children were able to empathise and shared how they would feel if their school and home collapsed. Where would they live? Where would they go to school? How would they see their families and friends? These are just a small number of questions that the children shared with their friends.  Later, the children built their very own dens using a variety of resources and thought about how their shelters would stand up against the elements.  We had a fun afternoon and the children had the opportunity to reflect upon the plight of others and the impact of their fundraising for children around the world.
