Spellings

Please see links below for an overview of the progression of spellings taught within school.

Spelling sessions occur weekly across Y1-Y6, within phonics lessons and within discrete lessons (Y2-Y6).

You will also find below some useful links to websites and some of our very own 'Handy Tips for Parents' - your support at home is so very much valued.

Teach your Monster to Read is a web/app platform which we encourage children from Reception to Year 2 (whilst still on Read, Write, Inc programme) to complete at home as part of Home Study. As such, there is a section in our Home School Diaries to record usage of the game.

Spelling Frame is a website which we use to support children from Y2 to Y6 with their spellings both in school and at home.

https://spellingframe.co.uk/

Parents of children in Years 2 - 6 are given their child's log in details at the start of the year.

(Please note that Spelling Frame works best on Google Chrome rather than Explorer.)

Spelling Frame use is an expected part of weekly Home Study and as such, there is a section in our Home School Diaries to record Spelling Frame usage.

Once logged in, use the list of age groups to choose your year group and then find the list of words which you would like to practise or that have been assigned by your class teacher. You can choose to practise a set of words, play a game with those words or take a test.

The more you use Spelling Frame, the more likely you are to score highly on your weekly spelling test!
