TV and Media
Over the past 3 years we have been very fortunate to appear on several TV programmes relating to initiatives within school.
A few years ago, we featured on the regional BBC news for our exceptional standard of courtesy and respect. The news crew filmed our annual awards evening which recognises highly regarded British values such as respect, tolerance and good manners. Dave Guest (chief BBC reporter) described these as ‘old fashioned values for today’s generation’ and praised our school for having the highest standards of behaviour and manners.
In 2014 a film crew from ITN news followed the journey of our Year 5/6 pupils to visit the Somme in Northern France. During the trip, the pupils laid remembrance wreathes to commemorate the sacrifice of three local soldiers. The feature was also covered in the press and on regional radio.
It is nice to be recognised for doing such good work; however, the media attention was a ‘bi-product’ of genuine and sincere projects which illustrated the very best of young people and the respect they show for their elders.
