Pennies from heaven

Pupils raise money for Young Carers' Awareness Day.

Our generous pupils at  Parish, have 'spent a penny' to raise money for Young Carers.  The idea was based on each pupil donating their loose change to create the Young Carers in School Award' logo.

Increasingly many pupils live in domestic situations in which they need to care for an older brother or a younger sister, or even a parent.  Such children carry an enormous responsibility - as without them, families may struggle to lead the 'normal' lives that the rest of us take for granted.

The event was organised by Mrs Butler and Mrs Aspinall-Woods who both work at Parish.  "As a school, it is our duty to support such 'Young Carers', to give them advice and offer a 'listening ear', "said Mrs Butler.  "This was a brilliant way to raise funds to support Young Carers in St Helens.

"We sometimes don't realise the enourmous hurdles which some children have to over-come just to get to school.  We are fully committed to supporting our yOur oung carers and respect the amazing contribution that many of our children make to building and maintaining succesful families.  They are real heroes", said our Acting Head Teacher, Mr Thomas.
