Superhero Week
Start: 6th Feb 2017 8:30am
To launch Superhero week, we are extremely excited to inform you that we have arranged for Tim Quinn to hold a whole school assembly at 9am on Monday 6th February. Tim has been a writer for the Guardian, Beano and was actually editor of Marvel comics in New York. As well as launching the week, Tim will be running cartooning workshops in Year 5 and Year 6 where he will share his wealth of experience and assist children in designing their own superhero characters.
We are also asking that children (and staff!) come to school dressed as superheroes on Monday 6th February to add to the excitement. This is of course optional and children should wear school uniform if they do not wish to participate.
During the rest of the week classes will be using Ipads, visiting Central Library (Year 3 & Year 4), using Drama, creating Artwork, and making items in DT to bring their chosen superhero focus characters to life and to inspire them to produce their own piece of writing. All children will produce a story by the end of the week and we will all be using the same story starter (taken from the Library Competition): I thought it was a normal Saturday morning in St.Helens town centre, but maybe I was mistaken…
Each class will be focusing on different famous comic character/superhero and in case you would like to find out more about this character with your child, we have listed class focuses below:
YN – Avengersaurs
YR – Marvel Characters
Y1 – Batman
Y2 – Ironman
Y3 – Superman
Y4 – Spiderman
Y5 – Captain America
Y6 – Thor
